Jon Hoke is one of the most popular and richest American coach who was born on January 24, 1957 in Hamilton, Ohio, United States. Jon Hoke (born January 24 in 1957) is an American football defensive coordinator of the Maryland Terrapins. Maryland Terrapins
Hoke was the defensive coordinator at Kent State in 1993 and Florida between 1999 and 2001. In Florida, Hoke replaced friend Bob Stoops, who had quit for the position of head coach at Oklahoma. Hoke and Stoops were as part of similar Kent State staff in 1989 under Dick Crum, and Stoops suggested Hoke for the job of his replacement. Hoke was fired from Florida at the time that Gators director of football Steve Spurrier took the head coaching position with his team, the Washington Redskins of the NFL.
When Spurrier returned to college football to coach South Carolina in 2004, he asked Hoke to join him as defensive coordinator. After deliberating with his family, Hoke declined Spurrier’s offer.
Hoke joined the Chicago Bears as defensive backs coach under head coach Lovie Smith in 2009, taking over for Steven Wilks. In 2012, the Minnesota Vikings asked the Bears for permission to interview Hoke for their vacant defensive coordinator position, but were denied.
Hoke began his coaching profession in 1982 and eventually was a college coach over 19 years. He was a coach for secondary schools Hoke was a coach in Dayton, North Carolina State as well as Bowling Green. Hoke was recruited by the head coach Denny Stolz at BGSU, following him after he was appointed by San Diego State. Following Stolz’s demotion at SDSU, Hoke went Kent State, Missouri, and Florida.
